Grab your boots and hats – we’re in for a stompin’ good night out!
On the heels of two full-house dance parties in 2015 and 2016, CCRA is pleased to host a country rock dinner/dance on Saturday, April 1 at West Rouge Community Centre. The evening features a buffet dinner and show, cash bar, raffle and door prizes, all in support of Centennial Community and Recreation Association. Headlining the evening is a lively show with up-and-coming country music artist Vanessa Marie Carter.
Vanessa began performing in musical theatre as a child in Oakville, and by age 8 knew that singing was her greatest love. She was writing songs by age 12, influenced by the folk and country music played by musicians in her family. Soon after graduating from university, Vanessa signed a recording contract with an independent record label. She has been performing, writing and recording ever since, opening shows for major country artists and steering her musical career steadily onward.
Last year was a big one for Vanessa. She released her first CD, a five-song, self-titled EP that took six months to write and record. It includes four original tracks co-written by the singer, her band and other artists. She also won the coveted Emerging Artist Award at Boots and Hearts, one of Canada’s largest country music festivals. She opened for Chase Rice in front of more than 40,000 people and earned a spot on the Main Stage at this year’s festival in August.
Determined to make inroads to the country music scene, Vanessa has spent time in Nashville, developing a network of professionals and writers. As part of the Boots and Hearts prize, she signed a recording contract with Universal Music.
Whether singing in front of a roomful of people or wowing a festival crowd, Vanessa is at her best on stage. She has been touring with her band, playing original and classic country rock songs by artists like Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Shania Twain, Lynryd Skynrd and Tom Cochran. Her live show will entertain not only country fans, but all who enjoy watching the rise of a gifted singer and performer. For more about Vanessa, visit her website at www.vanessamariecarter.com.

As well as a hot buffet dinner, cash bar and live country rock show, the evening includes raffle draws and a special prize for the “best dressed cowboy or girl.” West Rouge Community Centre is located at 270 Rouge Hills Drive.
