By Garrett and Ryan Allardyce

Sir Oliver Mowat C. I. is proud to present Mamma Mia! It’s the story of a 20-year-old woman named Sophie (Stephanie Hintermeister) determined to discover the identity of her father before her upcoming marriage. Sophie sends wedding invitations to three men, each of whom had a fling with her mother, Donna (Aliyah Husain) 21 years ago. Soon, Sam (Matthew Johnson), Bill (Garrett Allardyce), and Harry (Lance Montinola) arrive on the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi for the nuptials, each unaware that Sophie might be his daughter. As the story progresses, the possible dads start to suspect that they have a connection to Sophie, and many secrets come to light before the curtains close.

The show is jam-packed with musical numbers originally performed by the ’70s pop group ABBA. In addition to the title song, the cast will perform Dancing Queen, Take A Chance On Me, Super Trouper and many other hits. With a cast and crew of more than 50 Mowat students, we are committed to producing a fun and entertaining show that everyone in the community will enjoy.

Rehearsals for the show started at the end of September with the cast meeting after school three times a week. Sundays were added in the middle of October. Rehearsals usually range from four to five hours in length. The cast is currently perfecting the staging, songs and choreography for the show. Additionally, the stage crew meets after school twice a week for set building, set painting, lighting, sound, and much, much more. The cast and crew are thrilled to be working with so many talented people, including our wonderful director, Alan Kinsella, to bring this show to life.
