Merry Christmas, Centennial!

I hope everyone is enjoying the festive season. It’s been wonderful seeing many of you at the holiday events in our community. I think it’s safe to say that the Christmas spirit is alive and well in Scarborough – Rouge Park!

If you still need to cross a few people off your list, please consider supporting one of the small businesses in our community. A restaurant gift certificate, baked goods or locally-made bath products are just a few examples of the gifts you can find close to home. Your loved ones will have the opportunity to try something new and you’ll be helping to support small business owners from our neighbourhood.

A New Council Term

November 15 marked the start of the new Council term. I am excited to be back serving you, as well as seeing familiar faces and getting to know my new colleagues.

I was honoured to be named as Mayor John Tory’s Deputy Mayor. I look forward to working with him and all of City Council to deliver on important files like housing and transportation, while ensuring a more resilient future for our city

My constituency office will remain at 4630 Kingston Road. If you’d like to get in touch, please email me at councillor_mckelvie@toronto.ca or call 416-338-3771.

I will once again be publishing an e-news. Subscribe to find out more about local events, city initiatives and community consultations. You can sign up by visiting jennifermckelvie.ca.

Police Auxiliary Toy Drive

In November, I was pleased to join Mayor Tory and our local police to kick off the Annual Police Auxiliary Toy Drive with 41, 42 and 43 Divisions.

The drive was first started in 1994 by Auxiliary Officer Carrie Malin and has supported thousands of local children and families over the years. In 2021, the toy drive collected over 2,000 toys for children in Scarborough and a total of 3,000 toys through the Police Cram-a-Cruiser events.

If you’re able, please consider contributing a new, unwrapped toy. Toys can be dropped off until noon on December 16 at these three police stations:

41 Division – 2222 Eglinton Avenue East
42 Division – 242 Milner Avenue
43 Division – 4331 Lawrence Avenue East

Thank you to our local Auxiliary Officers for continuing to support our community through this holiday initiative.

I wish you and your families a healthy, safe and happy Christmas season. I look forward to seeing you and continuing to work together in the new year!
