I hope that everyone has been enjoying a safe and satisfying fall! I would like to thank those of you who were able to come and join my team and me for our Fall Community Walk along the Vista Trail in the Rouge National Urban Park!
On October 19, our government marked the completion of the second year of our four-year mandate. I am proud of the progress we have continued to make on the promises we made back in 2015.
Most recently, our government announced that we would be reducing the small business tax rate from 10.5 per cent to 9 per cent, the lowest tax rate for small businesses among G7 countries. This tax break for small business owners is another step towards our goal of creating a strong and robust middle class.
I am pleased to announce some exciting initiatives we have coming up in November. On Sat.,
November 4 my team and I will be inviting members of the community to join us for our annual Fall Open House. Drop by our office between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. for coffee and a tour of our constituency office. My staff and I will be here to answer any questions you have about the services offered by the federal government, federal policy questions or simply to say hello! Our office is on the north-west corner of Ellesmere and Morrish Rds. — a few steps away from the Highland Creek Library.
On Thurs., November 16, my team and I will be hosting our Planning for Retirement workshop at the Malvern Recreation Centre. This event will run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will include representatives from Service Canada who are ready to review the services provided by the federal government for new and soon-to-be retirees. Our session will also include representatives from the financial services industry who will be on hand to answer any other questions you may have about retirement. If you’re planning on retiring soon, or know someone who is, I strongly encourage that you attend this free information session.
As always, I encourage anyone who is interested in speaking to me or a member of my team to contact my office at 416-283-1414 or Gary.Anand@parl.gc.ca and share your ideas or ask about how we can assist you.
