Adding more GO train service to Lakeshore East line

I hope you and your families are doing well. After a successful rollout of Ontario’s One Fare Program that is saving transit riders in our community an average of $1,600 per year, we understand the need for more GO train service and our government is delivering on that.

Expanding GO Train Service Across the GTA

Our government announced that we are moving ahead with the largest GO train service expansion in more than a decade, adding more than 300 trips per week. Starting on April 28, weekend train service will increase from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes in the afternoon and evening on Lakeshore West and Lakeshore East lines between Oakville GO Station, Union Station, and Durham College Oshawa GO Station.

For you, that means easier access to transit on weekends to catch a sports game, meet up with family and friends, and enjoy the exciting things Toronto has to offer.

Historic Investment to Build New Schools

Our government is investing an historic $1.3 billion, more than at any time, to build new schools and expansions. With the population rising, it is clear that we must build faster and smarter to get the job done for families and their children.

As part of this effort, we are expanding École élémentaire catholique Saint-Michel on Meadowvale Rd. in Scarborough-Rouge Park. This project will deliver 92 elementary spaces for local families in the Centennial community.

Building a New Medical School at York University

I am delighted by the fact that our government has taken historic action to grow the healthcare workforce by launching the largest expansion of the medical education system in over a decade. Of course, this includes the first-ever medical school in Scarborough at UTSC, which is already underway.

However, in our most recent budget, we announced that our government is investing $9 million to support the design and planning for York University’s new medical school in Vaughan, with a focus on training the next generation of family doctors.
