Promoting healthy decision making for students

It has been great welcoming students back to school this year as our government continues our Back to Basics agenda, improving student outcomes and promoting healthy decision making among students.

Celebrating CCRA’s 75th Anniversary
Since 1949, the Centennial Community and Recreation Association (CCRA) has served the residents
of our community. Whether it has been advocating for local interests or bringing us together at their annual Winterfest, this association has been an important institution in Scarborough–Rouge Park. I look forward to continuing to work with CCRA in the years to come!

Ontario Cracking Down on Cellphone Use and Banning Vaping in Schools

I am proud that our government is removing distractions in the classroom!

  • Students in JK – Grade 6 will be required to keep phones on silent and out of sight for the entire school day, unless explicitly permitted by an educator.
  • Students in Grade 7-12 will not be permitted to use cellphones during class time unless explicitly permitted by an educator.

We are also banning vaping and strengthening mandatory learning on cannabis, vaping and digital citizenship to ensure that our students remain safe and healthy.

We know how important this is to parents, which is why our government is investing $47.5 million to support the implementation of these new rules.

Modernizing the Alcohol Marketplace in Ontario

I am proud to announce that eligible convenience stores can now sell beer, cider, wine and ready-to-drink beverages!

We are giving you the same options that are common in every other province in this country, while supporting local businesses in Ontario.
