Wild Sunflower with a bee pollinator

Following up on last month’s article on the importance of growing native plants in our gardens, here is a list of easy-to-grow native plants which will return to bring pleasure year after year.  Titles are shaded to indicate the colours of the flowers (approximately). Back of garden plants tend to be 36 inches or taller; middle of garden are 18 to 24 inches tall and front of garden are 12 inches tall or less.

Large areas of the same plant make it easier for the pollinators to find the plants but don’t be afraid to experiment by buying one at a time. You will soon find your favourites!  If you add native plants to your garden this year, be sure to add your name to the Rouge Butterflyway Project.  Thank you for supporting our pollinators.
