The Scouting group’s community recycling event on April 25 will be held at the West Rouge Community Centre.
By Kevin Beleskey Akela, 2nd Highland Creek Scouting Group
2nd Highland Creek Scouting group is going to be running our community recycling event on April 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a NEW LOCATION: the West Rouge Community Centre. We have fantastic community support of this event and have outgrown Port Union Community Centre. We thank you all for your continued support.
This is the fourth year for our event and we expect it to be even bigger than the last. Over the last three years, we have cleaned up 78.3 tons of material from our community.
This has funded our programs and allowed for amazing adventures for all ages in our
Scouting programs. We will be accepting: e-waste, scrap metal, all batteries, clothing, returnable bottles, cans (beer/alcohol) and pop cans. Your broken or unwanted electronics: TVs, VCRs, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, stereos, wire, Christmas lights, appliances, used clothing (clean), luggage, shoes, fabric, yarn, bedding, blankets, linens, draperies, belts, purses.
As you can see from this exhaustive list, we have partnered up with multiple organizations to be able to accept your donations at our event. All donations are kept in the country and not shipped or processed overseas. All data is taken care of on all devices. Please plan on coming out that day, rain or shine, and we will be happy to unload your donations from your car.
These donations will enable your local scouting group to provide a fully enriched scouting experience for all youth.
More information will be posted in the next CCRA newspaper, flyers delivered at the door and on Facebook regarding this e-waste fundraiser event.
