Happy New Year Centennial!
By Kathy Rowe
The new year promises to be a busy one in the Centennial community. To begin the year the CCRA is proud to partner with area associations and various sponsors to bring back our annual Port Union Winterfest event. Please mark Saturday, January 27 on your calendar. Winterfest is a fun-filled day of winter activities for the entire family. There will be some new attractions this year, so please come and enjoy the day.
Our CCRA spring social will be happening on Saturday, April 7 at the West Rouge Community Centre. Things are still in the planning stages, but we plan to offer dinner and dancing for sure! Please stay tuned to our website and newspaper for further details as the new year unfolds. Mark the date!
A big CCRA goal for 2018 will be a revamped membership campaign. Membership has been declining over the past few years and our committee hopes to turn this around in the spring. We will need all the support we can get. If you enjoy walking in the community and talking to neighbours, perhaps you would like to help with some door-to-door canvassing. If so, our membership chair Denise Bacon would love to hear from you.
Our monthly meetings are open to all members of the community and we would love to see some new faces this year. Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 9 at the Port Union Community Centre. We begin our meetings at 7:15 pm. Please feel free to attend and find out what the CCRA is working on for the betterment of your community.
I’d like to wish you all the very best in the New Year.
