Rouge Beach Improvement Project
As many of you may know, Parks Canada has put a lot of time and energy into their plans to improve the Rouge Beach area at the end of Lawrence Ave. This treasured site is now a part of the Rouge National Urban Park. In February, Parks Canada released a “Detailed Impact Assessment” on the improvements that are proposed.
This study reveals steps for everything from the protection of native species to the construction of a fully accessible boardwalk along the Rouge River from the beach to the Glen Rouge Campground. Residents can request to download the assessment by emailing projetsrouge-rougeprojects@pc.gc.ca. Public comments for it can be sent to the same email. The comment period ends on March 2.
You can learn more about the project and read the “What We Heard Report” if you go to the Parks Canada website at www.pc.gc.ca.
Earth Day 2022
The CCRA is hoping to see an Earth Day event in April. A subcommittee has been struck and discussions have begun. There may be restrictions due to COVID, but I am hoping these restrictions will be minimal. If you are interested in assisting with our community Earth Day event or sharing ideas, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Input from our community is most welcome.
CCRA Monthly Meetings
Until indoor restrictions are lifted we will continue to hold our monthly meetings virtually. Our board meetings take place on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:15 pm. The meetings are open to everyone in this community. If you would like to attend, please contact our secretary via email secretary@ccranews.com
