On Monday, October 24, our province will be holding municipal elections. Advance polling will take place from October 7-14. In this election, you will be able to vote for a City of Toronto councillor to represent our ward as well as a school board trustee.

On Thursday, October 6 at 7 p.m., there will be a candidates meeting at St. Dunstan of Canterbury Church at 56 Lawson Rd. Everyone is welcome to come and listen to the candidates’ platforms and pose questions. Our association will be hosting this event alongside the West Rouge and Highland Creek associations.

Our municipal leaders are the first point of contact when issues arise within our community, be it schools, parking or general community concerns. I urge you to become informed about our candidates and participate in the voting process this month. You will find the candidate bios here.

Proposed Federal Electoral Boundary Changes

An independent Ontario Commission has proposed changes to our current federal electoral boundaries. Should the proposal be adopted, our portion of Scarborough will become joined with Guildwood and the new name would be Scarborough–Guildwood.

Scarborough stands to lose a riding with this proposal and this is a big concern. CCRA has written a letter to the commission opposing the name change as well as the loss of a seat. I will also be making an in-person deputation to the commission at the Scarborough Civic Centre on October 18. Find out more about the proposed federal electoral boundary changes .

Pumpkin Parade 2022

CCRA, West Rouge Sports and Recreation, and Highland Creek Community Association are pleased to announce our fifth annual pumpkin parade. The parade will take place on November 1 just outside of the Port Union Community Centre near the skate park.

Last year we had a fantastic display of over 150 pumpkins! Please mark November 1 on your calendar. This event goes from 6-8 p.m. and will take place rain or shine.
