Candidate forums for byelection were successful

Kathy Rowe

Fall has arrived and the crisp morning air reminds us of the beautiful change of season. This is my favourite time of year and I look forward to witnessing the vibrant colours of our neighbourhood trees throughout the next several weeks.

Ward 25 By-election

In the Monday, September 29 by-election in Ward 25 Scarborough—Rouge Park, Neethan Shan was elected councillor to replace former councillor Jennifer McKelvie.

The two candidate forums that our four area associations hosted in September were very successful and well attended. We appreciate that the Port Union C.C. and the Highland Creek Legion were able to open their doors for these events.

I want to thank all those who volunteered their time to plan and execute these forums. I also want to thank Scarborough United Neighbours (SUN) for their support during the campaign. We will be doing this all over again 13 months from now!

Thanks to the residents who came out to learn about the candidates so that they could make informed decisions on voting day. The area associations are pleased to be able to help educate residents about the important matters in our community and in our ward.

Pumpkin Parade

Why not enjoy the jack-o’-lanterns for one more night after Halloween? Please click here for details about this annual event on November 1. In advance, we want to thank the volunteers from the two area associations in West Rouge, the Highland Creek association and, of course, Centennial for their support with this popular event. I also want to acknowledge all of the high school students for their help lifting and lighting the jack-o’-lanterns during the event.

Annual General Meeting

CCRA will be holding our annual General Meeting in November. We encourage residents to attend. Please keep an eye on our social media and the November issue of Centennial News for upcoming details about this meeting.
