I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to the CCRA on their 75th anniversary!
TDSB schools play a vital role in the Centennial community and have a long history in the neighbourhood. Most current and former residents have some connection to our schools, which play a formative role in their memories of Centennial.
A special thank you to the CCRA Centennial News that acts as a glue that keeps the community together
and connected. Th is is a testament to the amazing volunteers and their dedication.
Cell Phone/Mobile Device Use in Schools
Beginning on September 1, the Ministry of Education has provided new direction around cell phone and mobile device use in all Ontario schools. By reducing the distraction of cell phones and mobile devices, together we can create more focused and engaging learning environments for students. Learn more at tdsb.on.ca/mobiledeviceuse or contact your child’s school with any questions.
Pedestrian Safety Tips
As we enter a new school year, families are encouraged to teach children of all ages the rules of the road. Children under 10 should be accompanied by adults or older children when crossing the street, as their judgment and perceptual skills are still immature. By starting to learn the rules of the road at a young age, by age 10 when a child can act independently, these rules will be second nature. Visit the city’s Vision Zero Road Safety Plan webpage to learn more.
National Day for Truth & Reconciliation
& Orange Shirt Day
Monday, September 30 marked the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. To learn about the ways the TDSB honoured this day and for more background, please visit the Urban Indigenous Education Centre website.
