There are a number of summer events heading our way and I am happy to report the details.

The Port Union Waterfront Festival kicks off the summer fun on Saturday, June 13. Located at the Port Union Village Commons Park, it offers live music, a BBQ, inflatable games for the kids and much more. It begins at 11 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. Visit our CCRA table and participate in the Mad Science activity. The West Hill-Highland Creek Lions are having their annual early morning Run for the Lions along the waterfront trail. Check-in begins at 7:15 a.m. and the walk/run starts at 8:30 a.m. Register online at runforthelions.ca.

The Highland Creek Heritage Day Festival will be held on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to  4 p.m. at Highland Creek Park, 3500 Ellesmere Road. Games for kids, live music, food trucks and many vendors will be there. This festival is always a fun-filled day.

A Canada Day event on July 1 will be held at the Legion in Highland Creek, which is located at 305 Morrish Rd. The festivities begin at 10 a.m. and there will be lots of attractions until 4 p.m. Enjoy live music, food, a beer garden, a petting zoo and more.

The Sunday Summer Concert Series is back at the Port Union Community Centre this summer with the same popular bands that were featured last year. All three concerts are organized and funded by volunteers from CCRA, West Rouge Sports and Rec Association, and West Rouge Community Association. Fossil Fire will perform on July 5, Swing Junkies on July 12 and Port United will take the stage on July 19. Bring your chairs and blankets! If it rains, the concerts will be moved inside. Light refreshments will be served at a nominal fee.

CCRA is a proud sponsor of all of the above summer events. We hope to see you there!
