If you have visited Ravine Park Plaza recently, you may have noticed a few changes. After many years of operation, B & C Aquatics has closed, and Davina’s Swim House has found a new home at 263 Port Union Road. Owned by Davina Lopez, who has 25 years of experience in aquatics, and her husband, Geo, Davina’s Swim House now has six locations across the GTA.
The winter 2026 session runs from January 3 to March 13, with classes for all ages, starting from 4 months, and all skill levels, ranging from beginner to advanced. Private and semi-private classes are also available.
Davina’s Swim House opened in 2003 in Davina’s own backyard, with a greenhouse installed over her pool to teach swimming year-round. Although Davina’s Swim House has expanded, this passion for educating members of the community about water safety – regardless of age and swimming experience – still drives Davina and her team of instructors.
“At Davina’s Swim House, we believe swimming is far more than a skill,” explained Davina. “It’s confidence, safety, resilience and joy. Whether you’re starting your swim journey for the first time or returning after many years, we’re here to support you every step of the way.”
It may seem overwhelming at first, getting into the water with little experience, but Davina emphasized that it is never too late to learn. “Choose a program where instructors encourage you, and move at a pace that feels right for you. Progress happens one small win at a time, and confidence grows through consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement.”
The swim school’s positive impact is not limited to the water, however. The DSH Cares program promotes sustainability throughout the community. When asked about the program’s future plans, Davina said that they will continue operating seasonal food, toy, and baby supply drives, as well as local cleanup days.
In addition, DSH Cares will prioritize environmental initiatives like improving recycling setups, adopting energy-saving pool practices and reusable diaper policies, and using eco-friendly supplies. DSH Cares will also continue partnering with the Swim With Me! Foundation, which provides swimming lessons to at-risk children and youth and newcomers to Canada.
For Davina, it was important to choose a location that embodies her team’s values of community and family, and she felt that Port Union truly fit the bill. “Port Union immediately felt like a community where Davina’s Swim House could truly thrive. It has a warm, family-oriented atmosphere, a strong sense of neighbourhood pride, and a clear need for accessible, high-quality aquatic programming.”
She explained that she was drawn to the community’s diversity and spirit, as well as the potential for educating the neighbourhood’s many families about water safety. “We are so grateful for the trust families place in us and excited for what’s ahead as we continue to grow, innovate, and deepen our community roots. We hope you make a splash with us soon!”
