Shane in his Ceylon Caffeine food truck at the Rouge Hill GO station.

If you haven’t seen the food truck parked at the Rouge Hill GO station, then head on down and have a look at Ceylon Caffeine. Owner Shane has been there since January serving up Tamil inspired Sri Lankan fare, specializing in vegetarian dosa.
The food is freshly made onsite and this dosa gets serious! It is crispy and delicate with veggie fillings and tantalizing sauces – think plant-based superfood! The subtle fragrance of spices is a magnet for food lovers. I’m hooked.
Shane serves up espresso-style coffee that he is proud to say he worked hard on for over a year sourcing different roasters for just the right coffee bean. His cappuccino and latte are the best in the area.
As well, you must try his Jaggery Chai Latte made fresh with his mom’s recipe of ground spices (my favourite), and the Coconut Cardamom latte is exceptional!
Shane’s fiancé bakes up delicious muffins, cupcakes and other baked delicacies that are moist and yummy.
He is doing a brisk lunch trade, especially with the students in the area and he takes orders for group events. GO commuters coming home stop to pick up dinner, and locals love to come for evening snacks.
Prior to opening this business, Shane worked in banking for six years, but he had been following a New York business that has been operating for 20 years and always had a long lineup of customers and thought he would give this a try.
You really must meet this handsome young man with an engaging smile and try his fare.
We are so fortunate to have so many diverse cultural flavours to choose from in the Centennial community. Ceylon Caffeine is my new favourite and I encourage everyone to experience the authentic, mouthwatering goodness served here.
Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday noon to 6:00 p.m.
The days are getting longer and we love to stroll down to the waterfront in the afternoons and evenings, so why not give this café on wheels a try?
