After two years of cancelled community events, it looks like this will be a wonderfully busy summer here in Centennial. Here’s what we have on our calendar so far:

  1. Highland Creek Heritage Festival will return on Saturday, June 18 at Highland Creek Community Park (3500 Ellesmere Rd.) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be a fun-filled day of music, food and entertainment for the whole family with local vendors, D.J., food trucks, rides and activities. If you need student hours, volunteer shifts are available between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. For more information, go to festivalhighlandcreek@gmail.com
  1. Waterfront Festival will be held at the Port Union Village Common on Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities include entertainment, music and children’s rides. Here’s the entertainment lineup: Shayne Ireland, Roger Beckett, Neil Bennett, Port United, Sheryl Joyner School of Highland Dancing, and Kennedy Station. Everyone is welcome to attend.   1. Spring Walk 2022 – MP Gary Anandasangaree and his team are having a guided tour of Rouge National Urban Park on Sunday, June 12 at 10 a.m. All are welcome. For more about the walk, see Gary’s report on page 15.
  1. Community Environment Day – you can finally dispose of your old batteries and paint at the city’s Community Environment Day on Sunday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Colonel Danforth Park (73 Colonel Danforth Trail).
