Happy Holidays everyone!

It’s hard to believe that the end of 2017 is right around the corner. It feels like just yesterday we were gathered together with family and friends to watch dazzling fireworks displays and celebrate the sesquicentennial anniversary of our country. Now it’s time for us to bundle up, sip hot chocolate and hope that our beloved Maple Leafs carry on their winning ways!

I want to start by thanking those of you who helped to organize and facilitate any one of the numerous events in our community this year. From Earth Day to Family Day, Winterfest to the Waterfront Festival, our community remains vibrant because of the unwavering commitment of the families, neighbours and friends who live here.

In the hope of continuing this tradition of excellence, my office is accepting nominations for our Canada150 Youth Awards. These awards will recognize exceptional youth in our community aged 15-24 who have made a significant contribution in one of the following areas: advocacy for gender equality, environmental stewardship, the elimination of racism and discrimination, entrepreneurship and volunteerism. If you would like to nominate a youth for one of our Canada150 Youth Awards, please send us a short bio about your candidate (no more than 250 words) that highlights the contributions the youth has made to our community. More information about our Canada150 Youth Awards is available online at https://garyanand.liberal.ca.

For those of you who are already busy filling your calendars for 2018, I would like to extend an invitation to our New Year’s Levee on Saturday, January 18 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Cardinal Leger Catholic School, located at 600 Morrish Road. The New Year’s Levee is open to everyone and promises to be a great opportunity to connect with your neighbours and friends following the holidays. We will have some delicious food, fun games and activities for all ages.

As always, if you would ever like to meet, I encourage you to contact my office at 416-283-1414 or Gary.Anand@parl.gc.ca and set up a time to share your ideas, ask about how we can assist you, or find out more information about our upcoming events.

Wishing you and yours a safe and happy holidays!
