Last month, CCRA President Kathy Rowe had coffee with Vishy Anandaraj to start our new column series, “Coffee with Kathryn.” Their conversation can be found here.

Spring is on its way and I’m sure residents are happy to see the snow finally disappear. Unfortunately, the melting snow has revealed garbage on our boulevards and in the nooks and crannies of our green spaces. If you are out and about for neighbourhood walks, why not take a garbage bag and a pair of gloves with you and help keep Centennial clean?
The annual community Earth Day is happening at the Port Union C.C. on Saturday, April 26. We hope that residents will come out to participate in the area cleanup.
Students! If you are looking for volunteer hours, this is a great opportunity to earn them. Spread the word and bring your friends. Please sign in when you arrive to pick up your garbage bags and gloves. A free lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
Special Presentations
We’ve got two special presentations lined up for you that will take place in the library during our Earth Day event.
Colin Winn, who started the West Rouge Photography Facebook page, will be talking about his photos at 11 a.m. He’s an interesting speaker and his photos are fabulous!
At 1 p.m., Raja Raudsepp will tell us what’s happening with The Meadoway this year. The Meadoway is the hydro corridor that’s being transformed by TRCA into a 16-kilometre urban greenspace and meadowland. Located north of Highway 401 from Conlins Rd. to Meadowvale Rd., it’s a great trail for walking and biking.
Mini Repair Cafe
There will be a Repair Cafe on Earth Day, but it will be smaller than usual, which is why we’re calling it “Mini.” This means there won’t be as many fixers and it will be held in a smaller room.
Membership Incentive
We had a membership incentive for Winterfest that was extremely successful, so we’re doing it again for our Earth Day event. In January, new members could win Squishmallows or gift cards. This time new members who have signed up between January 26 and April 30 could win a complimentary cleaning service as well as a basket of cleaning products. It’s the perfect prize for spring.
CCRA Table
CCRA will have a table at the event. Please come by to renew your CCRA membership, purchase a Centennial hoodie or just say hello to us. See you on Earth Day!
