Thank you to all who supported Winterfest this year!

What a fantastic time the community had at the 26th annual Port Union Winterfest on January 25! The polar vortex ended just in time for children to enjoy the huge variety of outdoor games, and families flocked inside to watch the live entertainment and enjoy a barbecue lunch.
A big thanks must be expressed to the members of the Winterfest planning committee, led by Jake Forsyth, who all worked tirelessly to bring this event to the community.
Thank you to the many sponsors and vendors who provided funds to support Winterfest this year. A festival of this calibre needs the support of community organizations and local businesses and they came through!
Winterfest could not have happened without the many volunteers who braved the cold to help facilitate activities at the event. Volunteers of all ages helped with ticket sales, barbecuing, food serving and games.
Let’s not forget that the performers also volunteered their time. All of the acts were terrific and there was something for everyone.
The free hot chocolate provided by John Whyte and free hot apple cider provided by Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie were much appreciated.
Making s’mores over the fire pit was a new attraction this year and we can thank the Scouts for making this happen!
Mayor Olivia Chow dropped by to enjoy the festival and to say hello to residents.
If you missed Winterfest this year, please come next year. It is always held on the last Saturday in January at the Port Union Community Centre.
