Fresh starts and forward thinking in 2020
By Kathy Rowe
As we usher in a new decade, I intend to take stock. The year 2020 will likely allow for fresh starts and forward thinking. Canadians will need to seriously consider making changes to their everyday lives in an effort to keep this planet more sustainable. We will be runnings stories throughout the year on reducing our carbon footprint, living cleaner lives, and protecting our environment. See our centre spread for our first articles in this series. We hope you will gain some insight from these pieces. My hope is that we will all become more mindful about the impact we are having on our beautiful planet.
Community Carol Sing
On December 9, I had the pleasure of taking part in this annual musical tradition at St. Dunstan
of Canterbury church on Lawson Road. Reverend Richard Newland hosted the evening with his usual comic flair. Dressed in a Christmas tree costume, Richard shared funny stories and videos with the packed house. The music was lively and the company was terrific. The CCRA helped support the event by providing the refreshments following the concert. If you missed the event this year, we hope you will come out next year.
Winterfest 2020
Our annual community Winterfest will be held on Saturday, January 25 at the Port Union Community Centre. Please join us in celebrating all things winter! The CCRA is a proud partner with Winterfest this year. We are pleased to support such a wonderful day full of musical events, games, activities and food for the whole family. New this year will be a beer tasting tent. For more Winterfest details please see the article on page 1.
