Remembering Ron Moeser. On behalf of CCRA, my condolences to the family and friends of Councillor Ron Moeser. He was a strong supporter of the local community associations in his ward. His passion for the environment inspired residents and led to the preservation and creation of many wonderful green spaces for our community to enjoy. Thanks to his advocacy, we will enjoy the Rouge National Urban Park and the Port Union Waterfront for generations to come. Thank you to the community members who shared their stories with CCRA for this month’s tribute.
Earth Day Celebrations. Thank you to all the community members who helped out on Earth Day on April 22. I had fun continuing our annual tradition of cleaning up the Port Union Waterfront with my family in support of Earth Day. The 2nd Highland Creek Scouting group also was at the Port Union Community Centre collecting old electronics, batteries, scrap metal, clothing and many more items for their recycling fundraiser.
Upcoming Events. CCRA has a busy summer planned. We are proud to sponsor the 32nd Annual Highland Creek Festival on June 17, as well as the Port Union Waterfront Festival on June 24. Say hello to members of our CCRA executive and make sure to ask them about the ways you can help get involved and support your community. We will also be sponsoring our Sunday evening summer concert series at the Port Union Recreation Centre in July. You can sign up for our e-updates on our website to stay informed about upcoming events in our community.
CCRA Membership. We depend on membership sales as a revenue source for the activities we carry out to enrich our community and keep you informed about local issues. Please join the CCRA and be part of “something better” here in our own community! The larger our membership, the greater influence we will have on decisions that affect our neighbourhood. Each one of us makes a difference! You can join online using Paypal, or mail in your membership form, or drop it off at the CCRA mailbox at the Port Union Recreation Centre. We are hoping to knock on some doors this summer to spread the word about why your membership matters. If you want to help out and canvass your street, please get in touch with us.
