Many thanks to those who have bolstered CCRA

Volunteer Appreciation
On May 2, we held a volunteer appreciation event at the Port Union Community Centre. This long overdue tribute to our CCRA volunteers was a success. Volunteers past and present, short term and long serving were recognized with certificates from our local elected officials and received gifts from our CCRA executive members. The evening was filled with smiles and friendly conversation. The commemorative photo on the front page is a wonderful memory of such a special evening.
Fond Farewells
I would like to take this opportunity to say a fond farewell to two of our executive members. Gerry Divaris, vice-president and transportation chair, has been appointed as a full-time member of the Local Planning Appeals Tribunal. Gerry has been a valuable asset to the CCRA over the past several years and he will be missed.
Lakshmi Anandaraj, our social media/youth chair, will be leaving our board at the end of June to attend university. Lakshmi has done an amazing job with her portfolio and she will be missed as well. Fortunately, her brother Varuhn has stepped up to follow in her footsteps and he will be taking on the responsibilities of our social media portfolio. Welcome Varuhn!
The executive wishes to thank Gerry and Lakshmi for their time as volunteer board members. We wish you the very best in your future endeavours.
Summer Events
Please take a look at our calendar of events for June and July. Note that the Highland Creek Heritage Day Festival will take place on June 15 at a new location–Highland Creek Park, located on the north side of Ellesmere Road, west of Morrish Road. The CCRA will have a table at this event and we hope you drop by to say hello.
