Dance the night away at our spring dinner/dance!

By Kathy Rowe

CCRA will be hosting our annual spring dinner/dance at the West Rouge Community Centre on Saturday, March 30. This year we will be celebrating CCRA’s 70th year in the community. Your ticket will include a champagne reception, a buffet dinner, a D.J. and a raffle prize table. There will be a cash bar as well. Come and dress up in your best ‘70s get up. There will be a prize for the best dressed!

Tickets are $60 per person. Call your friends and neighbours and reserve a table of eight. Contact Heather Lemieux for tickets at 416-284-4751.

Have your say on March 5

Our February newspaper highlighted the unsightly vacant lot on Bridgeport Dr. This six-acre lot is jointly owned by the public and Catholic school boards. Apparently there are no plans for the school boards to build on this land in the foreseeable future.

The boards are open to proposals from residents regarding the use of this land to enhance our community. The CCRA is willing to support the residents in this endeavor, but we need to hear from you!

Please join us at the Port Union Community Centre on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:15 p.m. if you would like to put a suggestion forward. This is your community to improve.

Save the date for Earth Day

Start putting aside those spent batteries, old paint cans and electronics! On Saturday, April 27,  the Scouts will be holding their recycle/hazardous waste day at the Port Union Community Centre parking lot. Inside the community centre, we will be building bird houses with the younger set and serving a BBQ lunch. Volunteers can pick up garbage bags at the centre for a neighbourhood clean-up on that day, too! Put it on your calendar!

CCRA boundaries

Just as a refresher for those who are new to our Centennial neighbourhood, I would like to outline our geographical boundaries. The Centennial area encompasses Highway 2A to the north, Lake Ontario to the south, Port Union Road to the east and Colonel Danforth Trail to the west.   MAP
