Thanks for supporting our community social and Earth Day
Winter has finally lost its grip and spring is almost truly here. What a winter!
Our “Spring” dinner dance was a great excuse to get out of the house and shake off some of those winter blues. On Saturday April 7, we hosted a dinner dance event at the West Rouge Community Centre. Attendees loved meeting up with old friends and enjoyed a drink or two from the bar. A buffet dinner was prepared and there was a variety of foods to choose from.
The Port United Band played lively dance music and the dance floor was busy throughout the entire evening. They played everything from Shania Twain to The Merrymen and things were “Feeling Hot Hot Hot” just like the song says! Our prize raffle was a great success and the CCRA thanks all of our prize donors. Please see details on their donations in the May edition of the CCRA newspaper.
Thank you to all who bought tickets to the dance and showed support for our community association. Let’s celebrate spring together again next year with another fun-filled evening.
I’d like to mention a few thank yous to those who helped put together a very successful Earth Day on April 21. Many birdhouses were constructed by families under the leadership of Zane Biblow and Bob Lalonde. Zane and Bob helped guide some younger volunteers who helped the little ones make their birdhouses.
Representatives from West Rouge Sports and Recreation helped with the barbecue, the pine cone bird feeders and the general flow of the day’s activities. The Port Union Seniors were there to sign in the volunteers and help in the kitchen. Last, I’d like to give a special thank you to the 2nd Highland Creek Scouts who arranged an impressive recycling drop-off for community members. The participation for this was outstanding! It seems everyone has “stuff” to unload.
Now our focus turns to our membership campaign. Did you notice our CCRA membership signs around the community last month? CCRA volunteers will be out knocking on doors this month. We appreciate your continued support and we hope that this membership drive will be a great success.
