Greetings to our readers!
Now that the October fall festivals have made way for Christmas bazaars, our community is gearing up for a variety of celebrations during the upcoming holiday season. We list these events in the regular calendar on page 18 and highlight CCRA festivities on our new and improved back page.
All-Candidates Meeting
On October 10, the CCRA, Highland Creek and West Rouge community associations came together to host a well-attended candidates meeting at the Legion. It was standing room only and many thoughtful questions were posed to the candidates by members of the audience. Thanks to Jeff Forsyth who chaired the event and all the other volunteers who enabled the evening to run so smoothly.
Pumpkin Parade Fun
As I write this, our community Pumpkin Parade scheduled for November 1 hasn’t happened yet but I’m anticipating it will be an enormous success and I want to thank the many volunteers who helped from beginning to end. The planning and execution of the parade was done by Kathi Loughran (West Rouge Community Association), Carol Klupsch and Barbara Broadley (West Rouge Sports and Rec) and Rob McMulkin (City of Toronto). A special thanks to Councillor Jennifer McKelvie who offered to provide hot apple cider and a prize for our prize draw. I’d also like to thank our residents for bringing out their jack-o-lanterns. We look forward to repeating this event again next year.
AGM on November 14
The CCRA will be holding our Annual General Meeting on Thursday, November 14 at 7:30 pm at the Port Union C.C. Interested residents are encouraged to join us as we discuss CCRA’s involvements over the past year and bring in new members for the coming year. Councillor Jennifer Mckelvie will be joining us so please come out to say hello!
Looking to join a committee?
Two very important event committees are looking for new members to help plan and execute Winterfest and Earth Day 2020. Both family-friendly events promise to be bigger and better than ever with new attractions and activities. Please contact Jake Forsyth (jake@jakeforsyth.com) or myself, Kathy Rowe (karowe24@gmail.com), if you’d like to be involved.
