Fall festivals are all around us and I had the pleasure of attending the one in Highland Creek on Saturday, September 21. There was corn on the cob, which was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, a few vendors selling jams, jellies, jewelry and baked goods, too. The Framing Dames set up a large canvas outside for folks to paint on as they stopped by. This ever-evolving painting was fun to witness. This was a great way to spend a couple of hours and support the local businesses as well.

Dates for your calendar

On Sunday, October 6, Morningside Park will be holding its annual salmon festival. I have never been to this but I’m really looking forward to seeing nature at its finest.

The CCRA will be holding its board meeting this month on Tuesday, October 1 at 7:15 pm at Port Union Community Centre. Centennial residents are always welcome to attend and find out about what our board of volunteers is addressing.

Join us on Thursday, October 10 at the Highland Creek Legion on Lawson Rd. for a federal candidates debate. Come and learn about the party platforms. The debate will get underway at 7 p.m.

And on Saturday, November 1, the CCRA, in cooperation with neighbouring area associations, will be helping with the second annual Pumpkin Parade. We are excited to announce that the parade will be held along the pathways and grounds just behind the Port Union Community Centre this year. Pumpkins will be set up inside the centre if we encounter wet weather.  We look forward to seeing the beautifully crafted neighbourhood pumpkins on display one last time!

Enjoy the beautiful fall weather while it lasts!
