Come one, come all! Winterfest returns to our community on Saturday, January 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Port Union Community Centre.

The Winterfest committee, chaired by Ashan Fernando and Alex Downey-Ging, has been working tirelessly to bring terrific FREE family fun and entertainment for our community families to enjoy. Outdoor activities such as children’s carnival games and giant inflatable games will be hard to resist!

NEW this year is a clothing swap sponsored by Kijiji. Do you have a quality clothing item that no longer fits? Bring it with you and trade it in for an item that you would love to wear. Please, no undergarments.

Come for an affordable lunch and try the hamburgers, hotdogs, samosas and more. Meet Toronto Zoo Mascot Teo the tiger and learn about animals in the wild that live near us year round. Greet our local politicians and enjoy hot chocolate and hot apple cider.

If music is your thing, there will be a variety of live entertainment acts indoors. Scheduled to perform are: The Memory Lane Band, Shayne Ireland, Neil Bennett, Tyler Forkes, the Sheryl Joiner School of Highland Dancers, and Port United.

Children can enjoy creating beautiful pictures in the colouring room alongside published children’s author Shriyanie Fernando. Enter your dog in the Muddy Paws dog contest. Prizes will be given out to contest winners of best dressed dog, most “looks like owner” and best tricks. This promises to be a big hit for animal lovers. We hope to have a few vendors, so bring a little extra money just in case!

We will need volunteers to run the outdoor attractions. If you are a student looking for community hours, go to our website and sign up www.portunionwinterfest.com. Someone will be in touch with you.
