Cole got a good taste of money, how to earn it, and how he can buy what he’d like. The passing of autumn and the absence of leaves did not dim his entrepreneurial spirit. With the help of the “Bank of Mum & Dad,” Cole borrowed needed funds to top his own savings to buy a snowblower to capitalize on the upcoming winter season.

Cole expanded his service area from his immediate neighbours to include homes down the street where he can walk his snowblower. He recruited his little sister, Sophie, to help with delivering flyers that he created and to carry his shovel.
Eleven-year-old Cole Desjardins really wanted a hanging chair for his room last year, but saved-up birthday money just wasn’t enough for him to buy this special chair for himself. The enterprising Cole saw an opportunity to earn money around his home by doing chores for Mum and Dad, including raking his yard. This led to Cole offering raking services to his neighbours and, in no time, he had his special chair!
Cole’s marketing message was clear: “..The reason I’m doing this is because I am trying to repay my snowblower and I want to get earbuds.” This personal appeal for business paid off with four regular customers this winter. Now, Cole can do his work with his earbuds in place!
With Mum, “Booking Manager,” Dad, “Equipment and Maintenance Manager,” and Sophie, “Delivery Specialist,” Cole has a terrific little venture going. The business continues as Cole saves his money, after making his regular loan payments, of course, for his next heart’s desire.
