Thanks to all who made Winterfest a success!

By Kathy Rowe

I would like to thank Winterfest chair Jake Forsyth, committee members from the CCRA, and our many sponsors, vendors and volunteers for making our 25th Winterfest a memorable event. Our CCRA gift basket giveaway was a huge boost to our membership. Read more about the lucky winner of this gift basket and the businesses that contributed.

The weather was on the mild side and, although the snow was mostly gone, families enjoyed the entertainment, the games and the food all day long. Special thanks to the City of Toronto Parks Forestry and Recreation division for providing the fantastic play mobiles this year. The children loved the variety of carnival games and engaging with Parks staff.

Winterfest is a true magnet for families in this community. CCRA was beyond pleased to be a big part of the celebration again this year. Please take a look at the Winterfest photos in our centre spread.

Next stop…. Earth Day!

Planning is already underway for our annual community Earth Day event. This year Earth Day will take place on Saturday, April 20. Please mark your calendars. Like last year, the Scouts will be running their recycle drive out of the West Rouge Community Centre, while the Port Union Community Centre will host various activities for families. There will be more details coming in our March and April issues.

CCRA is 75!

As mentioned in our January issue, CCRA is marking 75 years as an association this year. We’d love to hear ideas from our readers on special ways we can celebrate throughout the year. Please share your thoughts by sending an email to editor@ccranews.com
